Class 86 [Also in Group XVIII] A mixing apparatu for batter or the like comprises a beating device, a mixing vessel adapted to be associatec with the beating device to allow beating of the contents of the vesse on operation of the beating device, means for causing operation of the beating device or association of the mix ing vessel with the beating device, a liquid dispenser and means for operating the liquid dispenser to cause discharge of liquid into the vessel on association of the mixing vessel with the heating device. In the operation of the apparatus described a cup 19, to which powder has previously been added, is brought into engagement with a member 53 and is lifted into the position shown in dotted lines whereby the member 53, arms 44 rigid therewith and a valve rod 33 are also lifted to operate a measured quantity delivery apparatus 10, (see Group XVIII), which delivers a measured volume of liquid into the cup. The cup 19 is then moved from the dotted line position to the position shown in bold lines in order to engage a support 18, and by means of a lever 21 engaging the lip of the cup; this movement actuates a switch 24 for an electric motor 11 which drives the stirrer shaft 16. When the cup is removed the valve rod 33 and parts associated therewith fall to the position in Fig. 1 (not shown) and the delivery device 10 is refilled from a chamber 28.
