Abstract

689,341. Electric heating elements. BADER, K. E. Dec. 12,1950 [Dec. 12, 1949], No. 31800/49. Class 39(iii) An electric heating element comprises a resistor 1 of metal tape. or wire located in a silicone rubber impregnated woven glass fibre sleeve 2 in a seated metal sheath 3. The resistor 1 is slid in the sleeve 2 which is then drawn e.g. by a pump, into the sheath 3, the sleeve 2 being previously powdered on its cuter surface; e.g.. with talc. The completed element is then bent as desired and flattened to drive out the air. Nickel leads 4 are brazed at 5 to the resistor ends, and are themselves insulated with the material 2. The resistor 1 may have long leads within the sheath 3 which leads in effect form an inactive Dart of the element.
