Abstract
The invention comprises tetrakis-(mono-isopropylamino) phosphonous anhydride. In an example (4), (i) bis-isopropylamino-ethyl phosphonite is prepared by reacting ethyl-dichlorophosphonite with excess mono-isopropylamine in carbon tetrachloride; (ii) 1 mol. of phosphorus oxychloride is reacted with 4 mols. mono-isopropylamine; (iii) the products of (i) and (ii) are reacted together to give tetrakis-(mono-isopropylamino) phosphonous anhydride. The invention also comprises a pest-destroying composition of the latter compound or of bis-(mono-isopropylamino)-fluoro phosphine oxide and a solid finely divided inert diluent or carrier (see Group VI). Specifications 631,549, 652,981, 688,760 and 688,787 are referred to.ALSO:A pest - destroying composition comprises (mono-isopropylamino)-fluoro phosphine oxide or tetrakis-(mono-isopropylamino) phosphonous anhydride and a solid finely divided inert diluent or carrier. Suitable carriers are mineral or ligno-cellulosic materials e.g. china clay, powdered talc, fuller's earth, bentonite and wood flour. In examples (1) bis(mono - isopropylamino)-fluorophosphine oxide prepared as in Specifications 688,760 and 688,787, [both in Group IV (b)], after recrystallization from petroleum is ground in admixture with china clay; (2) the phosphorus compound as in (1) is again recrystallized and ground with talc; (3) recrystallized tetrakis p - (mono - isopropylamino) phosphonous anhydride is ground with talc. The preparation of the latter compound is described (see Group IV (b)). Specifications 631,549 and 652,981, [Group IV (b)], also are referred to.
