[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 24, 1950.] Classes 52(i), 52(ii) and 52(iii) Each of two supports for a sheet-metal table top 52, which may have drawers 66, comprises two vertical sheet metal cylinders 56 having reinforcing ribs 57 and spread apart by wedging devices 63 within an endless covering 58 which is thus tensioned to render the support rigid. The top is located on the supports by spigot and socket arrangements 67, 59. The cylinders have reduced bases 60 provided with a Pensioned covering 62. Ornamental bands 54, 55 are formed on the coverings 58, 62 or are in the form of tensioned bands embracing these coverings. As shown in Fig. 4, each cylinder may have a multiple stepped base 75, 77, each step having a covering 80, 81 and an ornamental band. 'The spigots 67 can be displaced transversely of the top to fit different sizes of support. The Specification as open to inspection' under Sect. 91, comprises also, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), a table 2 having supports 1 one or both of which contains one or two rotatable storage members 7 having an. access opening normally out of alignment with an opening in the support 1. Operation of lock 8a automatically rotates the storage member to align the access openings. The following are also described: a conference table having a plurality of top sections and supports, abutting top sections having a common support; a table having a single large support of oval cross-section which may be filled with ballast; a small table having a single support which may contain a storage member operable as described above; and a cupboard of oval cross-section. In a further form, Fig. 9 (Cancelled), the storage space 20 has an opening accessible through an opening in a surrounding cylinder 23 when the latter is rotated on a ball-race 24 by operation of lock 25. As shown in Fig. 13 (Cancelled), one or both supports 38 contain a rotatable storage member 39, a sliding member 43 of which can be withdrawn when the member 39 is rotated to be aligned with an opening in support 38. The support 38 may revolve as a unit to allow easy access by the desk's user or may be fixed. One of the supports may be formed as shown at 36. As shown in Fig. 19 (Cancelled), a table 68 has a single oval support comprising a thin covering 72 tensioned and so made rigid by two bow-shaped members 70 spread apart by a screw-and-nut device 71. In a further form, the or each support comprises a thin covering tapering from top to bottom and made rigid by the insertion from the top of a rigid member of the same taper and cross-section. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
