A machine for drilling or inspecting dies comprises means for supporting a punch holder 28 and a die shoe 26 in operative relationship. The die shoe 26 is secured to brackets 23 which are adjustable along a bed 2. The height of the brackets 23 allows inspection of the parts from below the lower surface of the shoe. The punch-holder 28 is secured to brackets 29 which are rotatably supported on slides 31. The slides 31 are adjustable simultaneously along columns 8, 9 by screws 83 rotated by a reversible electric motor 33 under the control of a switch S or by hand wheels 51. Power-, or hand-, feed is selected by a clutch operated by a handle 54. The columns 8 are adjusted longitudinally of the bed by hand-cranks 21 actuating rack-andpinion gearing. The brackets 29 are rotated in unison by a hand-wheel 58 which rotates wormgearing 72, 71, Fig. 5. Each bracket is locked in position by a plunger 74 engaging one of a number of spaced holes in the bracket. Each plunger can be locked in disengaged position by a pin 100. A drill-head 103 is adjustable longitudinally on a girder 94 which is itself adjustable fore-and-aft by rack-and-pinion means. The head can be locked in adjusted position. The drill-spindle 104 is lever-fed and is rotated by a motor 101 driving a shaft 99. The latter shaft may also be rotated manually at 109.
