Abstract

685,882. Lathes. CONE AUTOMATIC MACHINE CO., Inc. Sept. 18, 1950 [Sept. 27, 1949], No. 22861/50. Class 83 (iii). A lathe with chip-breaking mechanism comprises a tool-carrier movable towards a workspindle, and variable velocity means for moving a cam relatively to a follower to control the rate of motion of the carrier in the feed direction. The mechanism is as described in Specification 685,881 and results in a chip formation as shown in Fig. 8.
