Abstract
684,780. Suspending curtains. BELL, R. M., and KANE, J. P. March 19, 1951 [March 17, 1950; June 16, 1950], Nos. 6761/50 and 15165/50. Class 52(v) [Also in Group X] A curtain supporting device comprises an extension screw mechanism lying within a window recess the mechanism comprising a tube, an externally threaded member and a locating nut upon the threaded member, the suspension means for the curtain comprising a headboard 11 carrying curtain rails 12 and a valance rail 13 and formed at its under side with guide blocks 14 through which the extension screw mechanism passes. When the extension mechanism is expanded wall blocks 7 grip the walls of the window recess to hold the device in position. In an alternative construction, Fig. 1, the extension screw mechanism passes through lugs 5 on a Z-shaped bracket 4 supporting a headboard B. The extension screw mechanism may comprise an externally threaded member 1, Fig. 6, on which are screwed two nuts 2, two tubes 3 fitting over the ends of the threaded member to bear against the nuts 2.
