683,265. Communication over power lines. HASLER AKT.-GES. WERKE FUR TELEPHONIE UND PRAZISIONSMECHANIK. March 22, 1951 [Dec. 6, 1950], No. 6856/51. Class 40 (iv). [Also in Group XXX] In a carrier-frequency system for communication between an electrically-driven vehicle L1 and a fixed communication network, a carrier frequency line S, E is arranged along the track and is connected to separate sections a, b, c of conductor rail or contact line F. The lines S, E terminate in a public telephone network and provide up to 30 two-way channels. The carrier frequency is transmitted as a pilot to effect volume control of the line amplifiers I-IV and echo-suppressing arrangements may be incorporated in the amplifiers H and V to block out any noise induced in conductor rails not in use. The system which is intended for public train telephone service provides full dialling facilities from the train and the provision of coin-freed apparatus is suggested.
