[Also in Group XXX] A train for laying and removing railway tracks in pre-assembled sections comprises cars adapted to carry complete sections of track, a continuous horizontal runway disposed at the upper portions of the cars, the car coupled at the train end opposed to the locomotive comprising an extension of the runway the length of which is greater than that of the complete track sections to be laid or removed, a carriage adapted to roll along the runway and the extension thereof, and hoisting means on the carriage for lifting and lowering complete track sections. The cars comprising the train are each formed with a floor 5 and a structural framework comprising transverse frames 2 braced by diagonal members 29; the upper portions of the frames having brackets 6 to support the rails 3 of a runway of which the individual sections are interconnected bv members 12. The car at the track-laying end of the train has an over-hanging jib formed as an extension of the frame 2, 29 to support an extension of the runway which carries powerpropelled carriages 4. Each carriage has a pair of winches 14, manually operated by a handle 16, so that track sections, normally stacked on the rail cars as shown in Fig. 2, can be raised and transported to the end of the train and deposited on the track-bed. To enable the jib to be of light construction, retractable jacks may be positioned between the jib and the track-bed while track sections are being raised or lowered.
