Abstract

A coating composition comprises a solution of shellac and copal in industrial spirit, the ratio of the weight of shellac to copal being in the range 1:1 1/2 to 1:5. It is preferred that from 4 to 6 pounds of mixed resin is used for each gallon of industrial spirit. The coating composition may be prepared by dissolving the shellac and copal separately in the industrial spirit and then mixing together the two solutions.
