Abstract
678,986. Inhalers. MUHLETHALER, E. F. June 2, 1950 [Nov. 3, 1949], No. 13825/50. Class 81 (ii). A nasal inhaler comprises a resilient support with two limbs each to be introduced into a nostril bearing a dose of medicament, the dose being isolated from the air by a fluid-tight layer before the device is used. A clip 1 has spatulate limbs 2 each of which is soaked in medicament and then dipped in a solution which on hardening forms a fluid-tight layer. Immediately before use the fluidtight layer is perforated by a perforator carrying spikes or teeth. The fluid-tight layer may be perforated in advance and the perforations closed by a detachable adhesive strip which is removed before use or by a sealing material which melts when the apparatus is introduced into the nose. The clip 1 may be stamped from sheet plastic to which absorbent strips are attached or may be formed from tubes which are split diametrically and then notched and bent to the required shape.
