Abstract

A soldering flux comprises urea and ammonium chloride, with or without a wetting agent. The flux may form the core of, or be arranged in one or more grooves or slots in the outer surface of, a solder wire or stick. U.S.A. Specification 1,882,734 is referred to. The Provisional Specification describes also fluxes comprising solid solutions of ammonium halides, amines, amino-ethers, amino-acids, their esters and salts, ring compounds having nitrogen in the ring, guanidines, urea, methanes in guanidines, amines, amino - alcohols, amino - ethers, amino-acids, their esters and salts, ring compounds in which nitrogen forms part of the ring, urethanes, ureas, hydrocarbons, glycols, penta-crythritol, alcohols, amides, anilides, acids and polymers thereof and the use of substances capable of forming one of such compounds by reaction on heating.
