Abstract

673,526. Plasticized glassine paper. RIEGEL PAPER CORPORATION. July 7, 1950 [Aug. 16, 1949], No. 17048/50. Class 96. Glassine paper from a roll 1 is high-temperature supercalendered at 2 after plasticizing it, e.g. at the dryer train, mainly with invert sugar, the paper leaving the supercalender being rapidly cooled below 140‹ C. by air from a cooler 5 and a fan 6 to avoid caramelization of the sugar or colour reversion of the paper which is then rolled up at 4. The paper may also include a little liquid plasticizer, e.g. glycerine, and may be lacquered or waxed after supercalendering.
