Class 94(i) [Also in Groups VIII] An aseptic article 10, such as a surgical dressing, is enclosed between sheets 11, 12 of a material, such as glassine paper, which is sufficiently dense to prevent the passage of bacteria but sufficiently permeable to allow passage of steam for sterilization purposes, the peripheral portions of the inner faces of the sheets being coated with a heat-sealing adhesive in the form of densely-spaced discrete dots and the sheets being sealed together around the article. The dots are regularly spaced and occupy 20-50 per cent of the area coated with adhesive. The latter may be a polymerized resin composition or cellulose nitrate and a plasticizer.
