Abstract
670,613. Conveyers. WRIGHT'S BISCUITS, Ltd. March 15, 1950. [Feb. 2, 1949] No. 15529/49. Divided out of 670,611, i.Group XVII]. Class 78 (i). [Also in Group XVII] In apparatus for handling biscuits, the biscuits 10, which are supported on edge, are caused to push one another from behind through a sleeve or trough 11 on to a loading platform 12 to accumulate a batch prior to the performance of a further operation thereon, e.g. by a reciprocating pusher 13, the biscuits being prevented from falling over as they leave the exit end of the sleeve or trough by a support member 15 which is slidable in a side wall 14 of the platform and urged into engagement with the leading biscuit by a light spring 16. The movement of the member 15 to its retracted position when the desired number of biscuits has been accumulated may be arranged to operate a switch 17 or mechanical trip means to cause automatic actuation of the pusher. Alternatively, the switch or trip means may be arranged to be operated by the pressure of the leading biscuit. As the pusher 13 moves across the platform it closes the end of the sleeve or trough and interrupts the feed of biscuits, the member 15 being arranged above the pusher so that it may return to support the biscuits at the mouth of the sleeve or trough prior to the return movement of the pusher.
