Abstract
669,154. Electric condensers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Dec. 12, 1950 [Nov. 15, 1949], No. 29206/49. Class 37. The invention relates to condenser elements having the casing moulded round. Electrolytic condensers.- An anodized aluminium foil 29, Fig. 3, is covered by an absorbent spacer 30 soaked in an electrolyte, e.g. a mixture of ethylene glycol, boric acid and ammonia heated to 160- 180‹ C. for half-an-hour to increase its viscosity. An aluminium foil 32 is folded about the assembly and sealed by crimping. This assembly is then placed between sheets of resin impregnated paper and heat and pressure applied to mould the impregnated paper about the condenser. Fixed condensers other than electrolytic.-An aluminium foil 10, Fig. 1, is anodized, and the anodic layer filled with polystyrene ; this process is repeated. It is then placed within a spacer 20 of polystyrene between two styrenated paper sheets 12, 13, each bearing a coated electrode and leads thereto, and the whole assembly is moulded under heat and pressure. The impregnated anodic layer acts as dielectric. In Fig. 2, silver electrodes 21, 22 are deposited on styrenated paper 24, 23 and are separated by a dielectric 25 of styrenated paper, the whole being subjected to heat and pressure for moulding into a unitary structure. Specification 651,780 is referred to.
