[Also in Group VI] A crockery and like washing device comprises a washing, draining and storing cupboard provided with at least one perforated shelf e.g. of wire gauze, at least one spraying device supplied with water through a pipe having a gauze filter at its inlet, by an electrically driven pump, from a vessel, such as a sink, below the cupboard, which water is drained back to the vessel, and a door or doors maintainable in open or closed positions, through which door the articles in the cupboard are visible. As shown in Fig. 1 a cupboard or cabinet of wood, metal or plastic, divided into two parts by a perforated horizontal shelf 4 is mounted over a sink 1 provided with hot and cold water taps 2, 3. Each part of the cabinet is closable at the front by glazed doors 5, 6 hinged along their upper edges, the doors being arranged so as to be maintained either in the closed or open positions. The lower part of the cupboard has a false bottom or shelf 9 and a sloping bottom 23 from which water can drain by pipes 24 back to the sink 1. Water is supplied from the sink through a gauze filter 15, pipe 16 and electrically driven pump 17 to a fixed spray 19 in the upper part of the cupboard, a spray 18 rotatable by belt and pulleys from an external electric motor 22, in the lower part, and a fixed spray 20 directed against a wire basket 21 for knives, forks and spoons. Plates in the lower part are supported between forks 11 attached to a rod 12 passing through holes 13 in each side wall of the cupboard and provided at the ends with handles 14. The plates 10 may be rocked from one side to the other as shown so as to present both sides of a plate to the washing sprays by moving the rods 12 back and forth by the handles. In operation the crockery and the like is washed and after the water in the sink is replenished may be given a final rinse. The crockery then drains and may be dried by air supplied by the pump 17 or a separate fan. The water and air may be heated by an electric element, with or without a thermostat, situated at a convenient point along the pipe 16. After drying the crockery is allowed to remain in the cupboard until required for further use.
