Abstract
667,941. Window shutters. HARTMAN & CO. AKT.-GES. June 16, 1950. [July 7, 1949; Nov. 29. 1949; Nov. 29, 1949; Nov. 29, 1949; Nov. 29, 1949; April 14, 1950] No. 15103/50. Class 20(iii). A tilting, revolving shutter comprises a drum, a plurality of slots each pivoted along lone longitudinal edge to at least one lift band attached to the drum and also pivoted at each side at a distance from said edge to a metallic guide band extending into a guide rail, the pivotal connections being such that the slots remain parallel to each other 'in the unwound position, an end bar attached to the lower ends of the guiding panels parallel to the slats, and a fixed abutment adapted to co-operate with the end bar to tilt the slats. Lift bands 10. Fig. 1, connected to a drum 1, provided with the usual winding apparatus, not shown, are passed through slots 9 in slats 3, pins 12 housed in bearings 11 formed in the bands 10 providing pivotal mountings. Pins 5 on the sides of each slat 3 are pivoted in bearings 6 provided in guide bands 7. the latter sliding in guide rails 8 and being connected to the drum 1. A spring 16, or other resilient means, connected between the lower slat 3 and a bracket 15 riveted to an end plate 13 connected across the ends of the guide panels 7, aids the opening of the slats 3, the opening being initiated by the impact of the plate 13 on either a transverse frame member 17 or, when provided, on stops, not shown, adjustable along the rail 8. The guide bands remain loose when the end plate 13 is resting on such an abutment. Parts 19. Fig. 3, may be cut from the slats to allow them to lie evenly on the drum, an abutment, not shown. fixed to one of the lower slats preventing the shutter from being fully wound up. In a modification, Fig. 6. the pivots 5 are arranged nearer to the edge carrying the pivots 11, bearings for both sets of pivots being formed by metallic strips which are threaded through slots in the bands to form loops; the lift bands are hinged at 37, Fig. 7, to the laths 3, split pins being withdrawable from the hinges to afford easy replacement of the slats; and the end bar 13, Fig. 6, is enclosed in a hollow shield member 23 which is connected to the ends of the guide bands 7 and has pins extending into the guide rails 8, the lift tapes 10 being connected to the bar 13 by screws 24 so that the vertical movement of the bar 13 within the member 23 varies the angle of the slats. The shutter is locked by bolts 29. In a further modification, Fig. 13, the end plate comprises two hinged parts 45, 46, the upper part carrying pins 51 extending into the guide rails 39. the distance from a pin 51, as seen in Fig. 13, to the pivot 11 connecting the part 45 to a lift band 44 being equal to the distance between two pivots 5 and 11 on a slat 3. The lower portion of the part 46 is chamfered and is provided with guide pins which enter into the guide rails 39, one pin at least consisting or the outer end of a bolt 50.
