Abstract

667,306. Percussive drills. HEMSCHEIDT, H. Nov. 4, 1949 [March 19, 1949; Aug. 27, 1949], Nos. 28303/49 and 28304/49. Class 124. [Also in Group XXVIII] In a device for removing dust from a drill hole by suction, the dust is removed through a hollow drill, the suction device preferably an ejector, is fitted behind a filter attached to a collecting box, and a dry filter is used. As shown, a drill having a hollow shank 2 has apertures in the drilling crown, which apertures may widen from the cutting edge towards the hollow shank, and is fitted into a suction head 7 rotatable between the tool 5 and a collar 6 on the shank. A suction pipe 9 from the head 7 is led, preferably tangentially, into a collecting container 16 on top of which is detachably connected a casing 18 containing three spaced concentric filter bags 19 each of which is fitted over a wire frame 20. In the space enclosed by the innermost filter bag an ejector 23, having a nozzle 24 supplied with compressed air through a pipe 25, is fitted. A single collecting unit may be mounted on skids, Fig. 15 (not shown), or two or more may be fitted on a tram so that emptying may be performed above ground, Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown). The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also an ejector for use without a collector and which may be attached to a long length of tubing and to which water may be fed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
