Abstract

Lead containing a small amount of tin or arsenic or cadmium as impurities contains also nickel in such quantity as to partially or completely eliminate the adverse effect of the impurities in lowering the flash point of the lead or even in sufficient quantity to raise the flash point. Refining of lead may be carried to such a stage that about 0.01 per cent of each of the said impurities remain, nickel then being added in the required quantity. Lead containing up to 0.05 per cent tin and up to 0.017 per cent nickel; up to 0.09 per cent arsenic and up to 0.018 per cent nickel; and up to 0.055 per cent cadmium and up to 0.014 per cent nickel is referred to.
