Abstract
666,335. Aerials. SUCHY HOLDINGS, Ltd., McAULEY, D. J., RICHARDS, H. E. G., and CLARK, E. W. Feb. 23, 1950 [March 28, 1949], No. 8357/49. Class 40 (vii). A corner reflector for radio waves comprises a plurality of panels of flexible reflecting material and a collapsible framework which in its non-collapsed condition supports the material so that it lies in three mutually perpendicular planes. The framework comprises a rod 10 upon which is mounted a fixed member 12 and a sliding member 15. Arms 14 are pivotally mounted upon the member 12 so as to swing downwards in two perpendicular vertical planes, while arms 16 are pivotally mounted upon member 15 so as to swing in the same vertical planes. In the extended condition, the member 15 is retained in place by a catch 24 so that the arms 14 and 16 and the rod 10 form four frames each substantially the shape of a right-angled isosceles triangle, the frames defining the two perpendicular planes. The frames support respective triangular panels of flexible conducting material which may be prepared by the process described in Specification 572,071, [Group XXXVI], the vertical sides of the panels being attached to a fabric sleeve surrounding the rod 10. A square panel is supported in the horizontal plane between junctions 23 of the rods 14 and 16. The rod 10 passes through this panel which is supported thereby by means of a rubber washer attached to the panel and frictionally held upon the rod.
