[Also in Groups XI, XXXIX and XL (c)] A loudspeaker, Fig. 1, mounted on the top of the casing 13 of a wireless set 4 supported by a lamp pedestal 1 is concealed by a shell 14 lined with asbestos wool and apertured at 20 for the downward emission of sound, and a cone 17 resiliently suspended above the speaker and containing a lamp directs light upwardly and deflects horizontally sound emitted through a central aperture 16 in a polished transparent baffle 15 of "Plexiglass" (Registered Trade Mark) supported above the speaker. In the loudspeaker and lamp combination shown in Fig. 9 and adapted to be mounted on a lamp pedestal the speaker is enclosed in a sound reflector 76 beneath a centrally apertured baffle 75 and the cables 69 for lamps 71, 72 mounted above the baffle pass through the axis of the speaker magnet 74. A cone 77 containing a lamp and having a number of symmetrically arranged external fins 78 is mounted above the speaker to deflect the sound horizontally. The speaker shown in Fig. 11 is secured to a wooden base plate 68<SP>1</SP> by a bolt 83<SP>1</SP> which engages the central core of the speaker winding. The base plate has plug pins 82<SP>1</SP> which engage with sockets on a lamp - pedestal. The movable membrane 88<SP>1</SP> of the speaker is made of balsa wood, is almost flat and has a paper deflector 88a on its rear surface ; it is resiliently suspended by two flexible members 89<SP>1</SP>, 90<SP>1</SP>. An asbestos board sound reflector 79<SP>1</SP> below the movable membrane 88<SP>1</SP> has six vertical ribs defining compartments which are alternately varnished and lined with glass wool. An apertured baffle 751 and a cone 77<SP>1</SP> containing a lamp are mounted above the movable membrane.
