Class 34(ii) Lengthy fibres such as sisal, hemp, jute &c. are dried by arranging a number of fibres in a layer, thick ends in alignment, gripping this layer near the thinner ends by a clamp on drying racks, transport chains or the like with the thick ends of the fibres hanging loosely downwards. The clamping device consists of a semi-cylindrical upper member and a lower tubular member 3 coupled together at their ends by means such as rubber rings 2.
