664,411. Therapeutic radiation treatment. MODINSTAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MALINS, E. C. Dec. 13, 1949 [Nov. 15, 1948], No. 29653/48. Class 81 (ii). An infra-red treatment appliance comprises a heating element 4 in a reflector 1 and a screen 10 positioned between the element and the mouth of the body, the screen having apertures 11 so placed and dimensioned as to produce a uniform temperature over the said mouth, which, in use, is placed in direct contact with the patient's skin. The position and size of the apertures is determined experimentally by measuring the temperature at points over the surface to be irradiated and varying the holes to increase or decrease the amount of direct radiation until a uniform effect is produced.
