Abstract
663,638. Screeds for concrete. WILLIAMS & SONS, Ltd.. S., and MITCHELL, L. J. Sept. 6, 1949 [Sept. 6, 1948], No. 23442/48. Class 107 A concrete coinpacting screed has a plurality of vibrating units spaced apart thereon and disposed to effect vibration in a plane or planes inclined at less than 90 degrees to the operative face of the screed which face is substantially flat and substantially parallel to the surface to be obtained. As shown, the screed comprises an inverted T-bar, the flange forming the head of the T lying downwards and having the lower edges chamfered at b. Pneumatic vibrators f are bolted to brackets consisting of strips c bent in such a manner that the axes of the vibrators are inclined to the vertical, preferably at 35 degrees. Handles are attached to either end of the bar to enable operators to guide the screed which is self-moving. Specification 454,816 is referred to.
