In a drawing-board stand wherein the board is carried by a parallelogrammic linkwork, the pivot connecting the linkwork 2, 3 to the stand uprights 7 is constituted by a shaft 4 displaceable by a toggle-joint mechanism 37, 39 to grip the links frictionally between the uprights, one or more of the links having a slot 33 to receive a friction plate 34 anchored to the stand. Further friction washers 31, 32 are interposed between the parts.
