A ground stopper 1 for a bottle is formed with a tapered recess to engage over a correspondingly shaped bottle neck 6, and, to interrupt the capillarity path of escape of the liquid, the stopper or the neck is provided with grooves 11 which may be of any cross section and may be wavy or not. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the grooves are formed in a tapered plug stopper which fits into the bottle neck, or are formed in the inside of the bottle neck. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
