Abstract
663,001. High-tension switches. FORGES & ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES DE JEUMONT. June 3, 1949. [June 4, 1948; Oct. 19, 1948] Nos. 14981/49 and 14982/49. Class 38 (v). A circuit-breaker having its operating mechanism and compressed-air tank mounted on insulators 6, is remotely controlled by radio, the receiver 7 being connected electrically to the operating mechanism by a flexible connection 13, 14 and protected from vibration due to operation of the circuit-breaker by being mounted on a separate, insulator 10 which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis for manual operation of the circuit-breaker and is also able to pivot in the vertical plane for isolating the receiver from the high-tension. The receiver may control closing or tripping relays, the former acting through electro-valves, or releasing springs which open operating-air valves which are reclosed by the breaker parts or by servo-motors controlled thereby. The tripping relay may release a latch or act through other relays or a servo-motor. Alternatively, when automatic reclosing is desired, the receiver may control a single relay, which causes pneumatic closing, and pneumatic or spring opening, of the breaker. The latter may also open when air pressure is low or when the receiver does not function properly, and the poles can be opened separately or together. The safety measures necessary when the receiver is to be examined preferably involve rotation of the insulator 10 about its own axis so that an arm 15 carried thereby operates a fork 16 to open the breaker, the insulator then being moved about the pivot 12 to the dotted position, any capacitative currents being broken at an auxiliary connection between the breaker and the receiver. If other safety measures are used, the means such as cams, keys, &c. blocking immediate movement of insulator 10 about pivot 12 are automatically withdrawn and the breaker remains closed.
