In polarograph apparatus, a resistance R, Fig. 1, is connected in the electrolytic circuit, and the current developed in it is differentiated with respect to time by a condenser C in series with the recording galvanometer G. Thus, as the contact D is moved uniformly along the potentiometer P, the current/voltage characteristic of Fig. 3 is developed across R, and the differentiating circuit C, G, produces the characteristic of Fig. 2, which can be more accurately measured than that of Fig. 3. A damping condenser C<SP>1</SP> may be counectecl across resistance R.
