661,917. Filters and strainers. JOSEPH, S. Nov. 18, 1949. [March 18, 1949] No. 7391/49. Class 46. A strainer for paint or other liquids comprises a funnelshaped upper part 4 having a cylindrical lower edge 6 and a ring 9 provided with an inwardly directed peripheral rib 10 adapted to engage the edge of the upstanding flange 7 of a strainer unit 8 and clamp this latter against the base of the upper part 4 by means of L-shape or like clips 13 pivoted on the part 4 and the inturned ends of which engage the base of the ring 9. The flange 7 of the strainer unit fits around the lower edge 6 of the upper part 4. In a modification the funnel-shaped part 4 may be joined in two parts having a hinge lying along the coned surface and, at an opposite location, fastening means such as apertured lugs on both parts with a pin passing therethrough.
