660,449. Rubber hydrochloride films. RUBBER-STICHTING. Oct. 19, 1949 [Nov. 5, 1948], No. 26822/49. Class 70 [Also in Group VIII] In the production of rubber hydrochloride or chlorinated rubber hydrochloride films, an aqueous dispersion of rubber hydrochloride or chlorinated rubber hydrochloride is cast in a thin layer on a smooth surface, the layer is heated, e.g, by infrared radiation, at a temperature below the boiling point of water at the pressure applied, and. after the water has evaporated, is further heated at a temperature between the softening point and the decomposition temperature for a time sufficient to produce a clear coherent film. The dispersion may contain a softener, a plasticizer. or a rubber-like substance, e.g. paraffin oil, chlorinated diphenyl, dibutylsebacate, tricresylphosphate, dibutyl phthalate, butyl stearate, abietic esters, alkoxy esters of phthalic and sebacic acids, esters of salicylic and benzoyl-benzoic acid, chlorinated naphthalene, chlorinated paraffin, neoprene, a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile, a copolymer of butadiene and styrene. Examples are concerned with heating at 90‹C and then at 130‹C a layer of a mixture of powdered rubber hydrochloride, an emulsifying agent, and water, prepared in a ball mill. to which is added a mixture of dibutyl sebacate. oleic acid, and ammoniated water, prepared in a colloid mill, and a layer of a dispersion of rubber hydrochloride, chlorinated diphenyl, and polyvinyl chloride in water.
