Abstract
659,577. Packeting-machines. HALL, C. T., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Dec. 29, 1948, No. 33414. [Class 94(i)] A mouthpiece for facilitating the insertion of a batch of cigarettes or a slide into - packet or shell, comprises in one form, Fig. 3, a pair of resiliently-mounted members 4A and 4B of angle section arranged to engage the sides adjoining the upper corners of the packet or shell 3, and a single flat blade or a pair of flat blades 9 for engaging the bottom of the packet, the latter being secured to the bed 7 of the machine:by plates 10. The integral blades 4D, 4F or 4C, 4E constituting the corner members are formed with flanges 13 provided with clearance holes through which pass studs 11 secured to fixed brackets 12, springs 15 surrounding the studs being interposed between the flanges and brackets. The heads of the studs are rounded on the edge adjoining the blade flanges to facilitate the movement of the corner members. In a modification, Fig. 4, angle-section members are arranged at the four corners of the packet. When the mouthpiece is to be used for inserting compressed cigarettes into a packet, the movements of each corner member may be limited by the provision of a stop screw 16, Fig. 5.
