Abstract
657,993. Fish skinners. TOWNSEND ENGINEERING CO. June 15, 1949, No. 15970. 'Convention date, Sept. 4, 1948. [Class 28(ii)] Skin 62 is removed from fish by gripping an edge of the skin between a gripping roller 24 and a pressure shoe 52-54 and rotating the roller, the shoe and roller being mounted at the respective ends of pivotedtogether handles 12, 14 to apply the gripping pressure. The roller has a reamerlike surface and the shoe has a sharp edge 54 which is pushed under the first part of the skin to detach it. The roller is rotated by a finger turned key 30 while the handles 12, 14 are held in the other hand. The shape of the pressure shoe 52, 54 is first curved partly round the roller and then reversely curved to direct the skin away through a slot. An alternative form of roller comprises several angle irons mounted between end discs.
