Abstract

657,282. Photographic roll-film cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Feb. 4, 1949, No. 3184. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1948. [Class 98 (i)] A roll-film camera comprises film supply and take-up chambers adjacent an exposure frame and a tubular receptacle hinged to the camera body to swing into and out of the supply chamber, the receptacle being open at one end to receive a roll of film and having an axially extending slot for the passage of the film. As shown, a tubular receptacle with openings 21 is hinged at 19 to a bracket 20 on the camera body 1 to swing into and out of the supply chamber 3. A film cassette c comprises a cylindrical body 17 with a longitudinal slot with outwardly flared edges 25, 26. The film spool is retained in the body by lugs 24, Fig. 4, at one end and by a spring 29 clipped into a groove at the other. At one end, the spool has grooves 12 engaged by projections on the shaft of a film re-winding knob 9 when in position. A recess 30 is formed at the other end of the spool. The cassette slides axially into the sleeve 18, which is swung upwardly into loading position by a spring 41, the slot edges 25, 26 entering a longitudinal slot in the sleeve. The sleeve is then pressed down until a projection 32 on a spring 33 clicks into recess 30. This may be done by a projection 37 on the hinged back 4, which presses the sleeve into position when the camera is closed. The end of the film F has a metal strip 45 by which it is led across the exposure frame and fastened to the take-up spool as described in Specification 644,896. When the film has been exposed and rewound into the cassette by means of knob 9, the camera is opened and spring 33 is moved outwardly by means of a projection 35 thereon, allowing the sleeve 18 to be moved upward by spring 41 for removal of the cassette.
