Abstract

21-Hydroxy-4-mercaptodiphenyl is prepared by decomposing diazotized 21-hydroxy-4-amino-diphenyl in a solution of excess potassium xanthate, hydrolyzing with strong alkali, and acidifying. 1-Mercapto-5-carbethoxynaphthol is prepared by reducing 1-carbethoxynaphthol-5-sulphonyl chloride with zinc dust and hydrochloric acid to bis 1 - carbethoxynaphthol - 5 - disulphide, and further reducing with aluminium and hydrochloric acid. 4 : 6 - Dichloro - 5 - methyl - 2 - (m - mercaptobenzoylamino)-phenol is prepared by reducing an acetone-hydrochloric acid solution of m-(21-hydroxy - 31 : 51 - dichloro - 41 - methylphenyl)-carbamylbenzenesulphamyl chloride with zinc dust. P-Benzoylacetaminothiophenol is prepared by adding freshly prepared p-aminothiophenol to a hot solution of 10 per cent excess benzoylacetic ester in xylene. P - [p(-benzoylacetamino) - benzenesulphonamido]-thiophenol is prepared by condensing in hot benzene p-(benzoylacetamino)-benzenesulphonyl chloride with excess p-aminothiophenol. 2 - (P1 - (benzoylacetamino) - benzenesulphonamido)-4-chlorothiophenol is prepared by condensing p-(benzoylacetamino)-benzenesulphonyl chloride with 2-amino-4-chlorothiophenol in presence of sodium acetate and acetic acid. 2 - (b - Cyanacetylnaphthalene - x1 - sulphonamido)-4-chlorothiophenol is similarly prepared.
