Abstract

3 - (b - Acetamidoethyl) - 4 - amino - N : N - diethylaniline is prepared by acetylating 3-(b -aminoethyl)-N : N-diethylaniline with acetic anhydride, forming the nitroso compound by acidifying and adding aqueous sodium nitrite, and reducing with zinc dust and hydrochloric acid. 3 - (b - aminoethyl) - N : N - diethylaniline is prepared by hydrogenating 3-(N : N-diethylamino)-phenylacetonitrile in presence of Raney nickel, liquid ammonia, and methanol. 4 - Amina - N : N - diethyl - 3 - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl)-aniline is prepared by reacting 3 - (b - aminoethyl) - N : N - diethylaniline with methanesulphonyl chloride, forming the nitroso compound, and reducing with zinc dust and hydrochloric acid. 4-Amino-N : N-diethyl-3 - (N1 - methyl - b - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - aniline is prepared similarly, but methylation with dimethylsulphate is effected after the first step. 3 - (b - Acetamidoethoxy) - 4 - amino - N : N - diethylaniline is prepared by hydrogenating 3 - (b - acetamidoethoxy) - N : N - diethyl - 4 - nitrosoaniline in presence of Raney nickel. 4 - Amino - N : N - diethyl - 3 - (b - methylsulphonamidoethoxy) - aniline and 4 - amino - N : N - diethyl - 3 - (N1 - methyl - b - methylsulphonamidoethyl)-aniline are prepared similarly. 3-Nitrobenzyl bromide is prepared by adding bromine dropwise to heated and illuminated 3-nitrotoluene. 3-Nitrophenylacetonitrile is prepared by reacting 3-nitrobenzyl bromide with sodium cyanide. 3-Aminophenylacetonitrile is prepared by reducing 3-nitrophenylacetonitrile with acidified stannous chloride. 3 - (N : N - Diethylamino) - phenylacetonitrile is prepared by refluxing together 3-amino-phenylacetonitrile, ethyl iodide, alcohol, sodium carbonate, and water. 3 - (b - Chloroethoxy) - N : N - diethylaniline is prepared by adding ethylene dichloride to a sodium hydroxide solution of 3-(N : N-diethylamino)-phenol and heating.
