656,107. Control of motors. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 8, 1948, Nos. 26253 and 26254. Convention dates, Oct. 10, 1947 ,and Dec. 13, 1947. [Class 38(iii)] In winders for raising and lowering a cage in a shaft provision is made to prevent operation of the winder at speeds exceeding a predetermined value and/or to give rise to an alarm signal. The winder motor 2 drives two tachometer generators 3, 3<SP>1</SP> each having in their output circuits a minimum voltage relay 4, 4<SP>1</SP> fixed resistors 8, 8<SP>1</SP> and resistors 5, 5<SP>1</SP> adjustable by cams 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, driven by a cage depth indicator, so as to initially adjust the cut-out speed during initial acceleration and final deceleration of the cage. One of the tachometer generators is effective during lowering of the cage and the other during raising and both are such that their voltage output decreases with speed. Thus if the predetermined speed is exceeded one of the relays 4, 4<SP>1</SP> opens its contacts to deenergize the winder motor and/or operates an emergency brake or alarm circuit. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), one of the tachometer generators is dispensed with and the output of the remaining one fed through a minimum voltage relay and a maximum voltage relay, one or the other of which exercises control depending upon the direction of motion of the cage.
