Abstract

656,063. Automatic exchange systems. STAATSBEDRIJF DER POSTERIJEN TELEGRAFIE EN TELEFONIE. April 20, 1948, No. 10923. Convention date, April 21, 1947. [Class 40 (iv)] In a receiver for digital signals consisting of the connection of different resistances or voltages into a circuit, the signals are grouped in pairs, each pair containing an odd and an even signal, and the receiver first determines the pair to which the signal belongs and then further determines whether the signal is odd or even. Resistances capable of producing at B of a comparison circuit signal voltages of - 32, - 34, - 36 ... - 52, are inserted at TSL. Relay NW operates over its coil NW(i) and the chain A... E is run down applying in turn voltages from the potentiometer R1 ... R7 of - 34, - 38, - 42 ... - 50 to point A of the comparison circuit until NW releases to stop the running down of the relay chain. Relay F then comes up to connect up coil NW(ii) of the relay NW. According as the signal is even or odd NW re-operates or not so that G only comes up in the latter case. The settings of relays B ... E, G are transferred to storage relays over leads 1, 2, 4, 8 via the wipers of a distributer switch (not shown) stepped by relay F. The relay chain may be replaced by a rotary or a cross-bar switch. Specification 655,369 is referred to.
