Abstract

655,657. Film-winding mechanism for photographic cameras. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Dec. 31, 1948, No. 33682. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] [Also in Group XVI] Means for pivotally supporting two spools or like devices during winding from one to another comprises two holders therefor urged apart as by springs, and two spaced fixed abutments which co-operate with the contents of the spools on the holders to limit their distance apart, so that, in use, both holders will move towards that fixed abutment which co-operates with the contents of the spool from which the unwinding takes place. As shown, in a film magazine for a camera for aerial photography film spools 1, 2 are mounted for rotation in U-shaped holders 3, 4, which are pivoted in the magazine at 5, 6 and spring-urged towards fixed rollers 9, 10 respectively. Film 11 from spool 2 is fed over guide rollers 12, 13 to the take-up spool 1 and is guided by flanges 14 on roller 9. During the winding, both holders move towards roller 10, the dimensions of the parts being so chosen that the centre of gravity of the whole apparatus remains substantially in the same place.
