Abstract

654,186. Tile-turning devices. BASON, J. May 7, 1948, No. 12594. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group II] A mechanical tile-turning device comprises a rotary drum 7 which carries radiating rows of rollers 15 thereon, each tile delivered to the drum entering between juxtaposed rows of rollers and being supported by the latter during angular movement of the drum to a position in which the tile is able to leave the drum in inverted position. Figs. 1, 3. Tiles 6 from a tile-forming machine are fed one by one along platform 5 on to the rotary drum 7 and the latter delivers them inverted on to belt conveyer 19 which delivers them to a sanding plant. The polygonal hub 18 on which the tiles rest during rotary movement is rubber covered to prevent damage. The rollers 15 may be supported on one flange only, or be smaller in length than their spindles 14, so that they may clear the lugs of the tiles. Also platform 5 may have at its end two rollers in a downwardly-inclined plane to feed the tiles down to the rollers of the drum 7.
