<PICT:0653677/III/1> <PICT:0653677/III/2> <PICT:0653677/III/3> <PICT:0653677/III/4> Glaze is applied to ceramic ware by subjecting the ware to an oscillating spray of atomized glaze and air to coat the ware with substantially dry glaze and rotating said ware while it is subjected to the oscillating spray. Referring to the drawings, table 10 rotated by motor 25 through speed reducer 24 and belt 22 on sheave 21 carries a plurality of vertical spindles 30 rotatably mounted and each carrying a V-belt pulley 32 on its lower end below table 10 and a removable ware holder 33 above the table. A spindle drive consisting of V-belt 44, motor 40 and pulleys 42, 43 and 45 rotates the spindles as they pass through spray booth 50. Lower gun shaft 62 carrying spray guns 64 extends across opening 54 in the booth and upper gun shaft 63 carrying guns 65 extends across opening 55 in the booth. The guns are pivotally secured on rods 66 slidably mounted on the gun shafts. Gun shaft 62 is oscillated by motor 70, crank disc 71, rod 72 and adjustable knuckle member 74 on arm 75 at one end of shaft 62 and a similar arrangement contacts the other end of shaft 62 to shaft 63 so that these two shafts may be given different amplitudes of oscillation. Glaze is supplied to the guns from tank 90 via pump 88 and tubes 86 and 87 and excess returns via drain 59 and bouncing lawn 91, comprising a frame 92 on which is stretched a fabric, which is bounced by the action of boss 93 connected to one of the oscillation assemblies so that the thick glaze is shaken through the fabric.
