Abstract
653,614. Hand seed-sowers. BARROW, C. F. Sept. 20, 1944, No. 17983. [Class 18] [Also in Groups I and XXX] A hand seed-sower comprises an endless flexible belt 36 having surface incisions 37 each of a size to accommodate a single seed, the belt being flexed at a pick-up point to open the incisions, and again at a discharge point to release them. At the pick-up and discharge points the belt passes around small rollers 32, 35, the roller 32 being located at the bottom of a seed-container 47 forming'the handle of a seed-gun 41. The belt is advanced intermittently by a trigger 54 actuating a roller 28 through ratchet mechanism 48, 49, 50. The roller 48 has a toothed flange 26 meshing with a similar flange on a roller 24, the rollers 24, 28 being of large enough diameter to prevent opening of the incisions 37. The seeds are discharged through the open end of the limb 16a.
