Abstract

653,263. Sound directing appliances. C.M.C. (SWITCHMATIC), Ltd. Oct. 30, 1947, No. 29053. [Class 13] [Also in Group XXXIX] A loudspeaker is mounted in an aperture in a container so that it is facing the supporting base which is approximately conical in shape to deflect the sound emanating from the loudspeaker equally towards all sides. The container comprises two hollow hemispheres 7 and 12 the former of which has a segment cut away and a flange 6 on which a loudspeaker 3 is mounted. The base 8 which is approximately conical and is truncated at its apex supports the container on pillars 9, a switch 16, a volume control 17 and grommets 18 are also mounted on the container and the interior space is filled with sound-absorbing material, e.g. cotton wool.
