[Class 60] A masonry saw comprises a frame having front and rear uprights and a horizontal support therebetween, a workpiece carrier movable longitudinally of the horizontal support, a cutter head pivoted on and vertically adjustable upon the rear uprights, and an adjustment bar assembly connecting the cutter head and frame adapted to hold the cutter head rigid in any 'selected cutting position with respect to the horizontal support and workpiece carrier. The machine frame comprises front uprights 10, rear uprights 11 and a horizontal support 12 in the form of a tray or reservoir. A cutter head 15, having pins 14 engaging notches 13 in the rear uprights 11, carries a cutter disc 17 and a motor 16, the V-belt drive having a screen guard 18. The motor also drives a lubricant circulating pump 19, on the cutter head 15, the inlet of which is connected by flexible pipe 21 to a standpipe 20 in the reservoir 12; the pump discharges through pipe 22 into a manifold 23 mounted on top of the cutter guard 24. Depending pipes 25 on opposite sides of the guard have elbow shaped jets 25a which extend through holes in the guard and project lubricant on to the sides of the cutter remote from the outer cutting edge. A trough 43, removably attached to the front edge of the guard by set screw 42, has inwardly projecting upturned edges extending into the guard and forming gutters, between the guard and the sides of the cutter, which collect excess lubricant and drain it back to the centre of the cutter through spouts 43a. A splash plate 26 between the rear uprights forms the rear wall of the reservoir 12 ; a flexible curtain 27, e.g. of canvas, is attached to the bottom of the cutter head 15 and hangs down in front of the splash plate 26, so that lubricant thrown from the cutter is drained back into the reservoir 12. The underside of the cutter head 15 is provided, rearwardly of the uprights 11, with angle members 28 whose depending flanges are perforated, the holes in the two members being in alignment to receive pin 29 also passing through a hole in the upper end of vertical rod 30. The lower end of the rod 30 is gripped on opposite sides by clamping dogs 31 pivotally secured by pins 32 to the ends of link members 33. The lower pin 32 passes through the arms of a yoke 34, the front end of which has a threaded bolt 34b screwed into the end 35a of adjustment tube 35, the front end of which is carried by a transverse support member between uprights 10 and has a handle 36. A spring 37 between the yoke 34 and the end of tube 35 urges the dogs 31 to inoperative position. An angle member 38 secured to the lower rear edge of reservoir 12 is cut away at 38a to accommodate the tube 35 and bolt 34b; the upper lateral wings 38b of the angle member serve as supports for a pin temporarily inserted into vertically spaced holes 39 in the vertical rod 30 when the clamping dogs are released and the cutter head is to be raised or lowered to different notches of the uprights. A work carriage 40 has flanged wheels 41, operating in roller bearings, which roll upon the top rims of the tray 12; the brick or tile to be sawed is placed on the carriage, and the location of the cut determined by an adjustable scale 42.
