[Class 140] In an imitation fabric moulded from synthetic organic plastic material so as to simulate a woven fabric, the simulated warp and weft filaments are provided at least intermediate each adjacent apparent crossing point with one or several grooves extending at an acute angle to the axis of the filament, and over at least one third of the circumference of the filament. Various patterns of weave may be simulated, e.g. as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, and at the apparent crossing points the fabric may be of the same thickness as one individual fila. ment, as shown in Fig. 2, or may be thickened up to the sum of the thicknesses of each apparently crossing filament. The fabric may present a similar appearance,on each.face, or may have a flattened rear face, as shown in Fig. 7. The grooves may be helical and may be provided only between the apparent crossing points, as in Fig. 1, or may extend over the crossing points as in Fig. 4.
