Abstract

651,637. Washing granular material. NEISSEN, M. Nov. 11, 1948, Nos. 29283 and 29284. Convention dates, Nov. 13, 1947, and Feb. 10, 1948: [Class 82(ii)] A discharge device for a trough washer employing upward current classification has valves 9, 17 situated at the top and bottom, respectively, of a chamber 14. The valves are interconnected for movement in the same direction such that when one is open the other is shut, thus enabling the schists accumulating in the chamber 14 to be periodically discharged without disturbing the upward current provided by water pipe 6, disposed longitudinally of the trough. A pipe 15 supplies water to fill chamber 14 after discharge and pressure of the water aids evacuation. An obturator is provided to close opening 3. Modifications (not shown) include rotary and disc-like valves and multiple arrangements of the apparatus.
