Abstract
651,094. Cleaning drilling mud. DIRECTIE VAN DE STAATSMIJNEN IN LIMBURG. Oct. 25, 1948, No. 27742. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1947. [Class 85] [Also in Group II] Drilling mud contaminated by drillings is removed from the borehole 1 and passed to a tank 3 where a screen 2 removes drillings larger than 4 mm. before the mud is passed on to a cyclone separator 6 by a pump 4. The purified fraction of the mud leaves the base of the separator 6 and passes to a collecting tank 8 whilst the remaining contaminated fraction of the mud leaves the apex of the separator and passes to a vibrating screen 10 where it is finally purified before rejoining the cleaned mud fraction in the tank 8. From the tank 8 it is returned to an overflow compartment 13 formed in the tank 3 proceeding then either back to the borehole or to the cyclone separator.
