Abstract

651,068. Photographic films. KODAK, Ltd. Oct. 1, 1948, No. 25689. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1947. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii)] A photographic light-sensitive film has a transversely-extending latent image of a sensitometric strip in each of a selected number of areas which are intended to or serve to separate consecutive latent picture images. A film 10, Fig. 1, having a sensitometric strip image 14 in every space 14 which separates consecutive picture images 12, has the usual marginal perforations 11 and at one side of each image 14 a small perforation 15. The sensitometric strip images 14 may be formed on the film by contact-printing either before or after the usual exposure of the film. A contact printer for this purpose comprises a continuously rotating sprocket 32, Fig. 2, a slit 33 and a light source 34. Sprocket 32 has teeth 35 for engaging the perforations 11 of film 10 and a series of small teeth 36 for engagement with the perforations 15 in the film 10 and with similar perforations in a negative 37 bearing transverse images of a sensitometric strip. The picture images 12 may be formed by exposure of film 10 in a camera which includes a claw 24 carried by an arm 22 which reciprocates under the control of a cam 21 carried by a sprocket 19 and rotatable in an aperture in the arm 22. The sprocket 19 meshed with a sprocket 18, which also carries a cam 20. This cam engages a yoke 25 mounted on a reciprocable rod 26 having at one end thereof a pin 29 for engaging the film perforations 11 and a pin 30 for simultaneously engaging the perforations 15.
