Abstract

650,979. Tips for furniture legs. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. March 23, 1948, No. 8555. Convention date March 25, 1947. [Class 134] A glider for tubular metal furniture legs or the like, of various cross-sectional shapes, comprises. a fastener member 10 and a glider head 20. The fastener member has a base portion 11 and a pair of relatively long resilient arms 12 bent per pendicularly from the base and preferably provided with barbs or prongs 16 to bite against the adjacent wall of the tube. A pair of relatively shorter and stiffer wall portions 17 engage the inner faces of opposed walls of the tube and serve to position the fastener member with respect to the leg. The glider head has a domeshaped bottom and a marginal flange 22 to receive the base 11 of the fastener member and is secured thereto by lugs 23 which are clenched over said base. The head 20 preferably conforms in size and shape to the end of the leg so that the flange 22 is in edge-to-edge abutting engagement with the wall of the leg. In a modified construction suitable for legs of triangular crosssection the glider and the base of the fastener member fitted therein are both of substantially triangular shape, the positions of the arms 12, wall portions 17 and lugs 23 being modified to conform to this shape.
