[Class 81(i)] A pest control smoke generator comprises a cylindrical canister having a dished top with at least one perforation of predetermined dimensions in its dished top, perforations near the top of the cylindrical wall of the canister, a charge of pest control fume composition in said canister up to a height below the perforations in the cylindrical wall, a portion of fuse embedded in said charge and at least one end of a fuse emerging through and beyond a perforation, a tightly fitting unperforated lid fitting into said dished portion and a removable waterproof sealing means covering the perforations in the wall of the canister. As shown, the dished top of a tinplate canister 1 has the outermost portion thereof in the form of a ridge 2a within which is an annular recess 2 surrounding an inner ridge 2b, which limits a central depression forming the greater portion of the top and having a central perforation 4. Apertures 5 are formed in the upper part of the cylindrical wall and may be closed by tear off strips 6. One end of a fuse 8 extends into the mass of an exothermally reacting pesticidal for evolving composition 10, the surface of which is below the apertures 5, and the other end protrudes through the aperture 4 where it is trapped by an unperforated lid 3. A plurality of fuses may be used and one or more ends may emerge through and beyond one or more apertures in the top or wall or both, the emergent end or ends being exposed only when the lid and/ or waterproof sealing means are removed. The pesticidal gas issues horizontally with apertures 5 open and lid on; vertically with apertures 5 covered and lid off; and in both these directions when all apertures are used.
